Projects and folders organize conversations at two different levels.

Projects

A project is the main container for related work. For example, you might create separate projects for work, study, travel, or a client.

A project can have its own:

  • Name, icon, and color.

  • Default chat model.

  • Chat instructions.

  • Automatic title and folder settings.

  • Prompt Library entries.

The built-in Inbox project is available for conversations that do not need a separate project.

Folders

Folders organize conversations inside one project. You can create folders and nested subfolders, then move conversations between them.

Folders belong to their project. A folder from one project does not appear inside another project.

Built-in views

The Folder Panel includes useful views:

  • All Chats: Every conversation in the selected project.

  • Favorites: Conversations you have starred.

  • Unfiled: Conversations that are not inside a user-created folder.

  • Unread: Conversations needing attention, when available.

All Projects

Choose All Projects from the project picker to browse conversations across the entire app. Switch back to a specific project when you want to create or manage its folders.

Switch projects

Click the project name at the top of the Folder Panel, or press Command-Shift-P. Search for a project and select it.
